Camp Hero and the Montauk Project
We began our fourth investigation much the same as we have in the past, by walking through the sandy bluffs around the rear of the base. At first, several things were quite apparent. While the generator and antenna were still in place where we saw them on our previous trip, there were also many new signs and information booths. These are here because most of the base is going to be opened to the general public, apparently in the near future. Secondly the bluffs erosion over the winter was also severe, as pictured below indicates. This sign was at least 25 feet away from the edge of the bluffs last summer, it is now on the verge of ending up on the rocky beach. We estimate that some of the underground complexes, particularly the bunker on the beach, will be plainly exposed within the next year or two.
Camp Hero Surveilance Plane
Its hard to imagine that such a beautiful and idyllic spot could have been the site of so much misery, torture and murder over 20 years ago. In fact, we had just about made up our minds that rumors of ongoing experimentation there were not true. I will not comment on the stories of what was said to have occurred there all those years ago, after all, who am I to say? The stories seem incredible,  and hard to swallow. Yet, we have indeed established that there is a large underground complex there. But our intention is not to debunk the Montauk project, what we were interested in are allegations that the base is still being used for nefarious purposes. Well, upon seeing the information kiosks etc.., we felt that we could very well debunk these stories. There are two specific rumors that we wanted to investigate. 1) That there is a giga-watt meter on the side of the bases sole active residence and 2) that large amounts of power are being funneled into the base. Due to the fact that the residence is occupied by a New York State Park Police Officer, guarded by a rather large and more importantly loud German shepard, we did not get close to the residence. However, there were some strange things we noticed, things that can be interpreted as lending credence to the rumors.
Montauk Lighthouse
Among the things we noticed, besides the obvious preperations being made to open the base to the public, we could not help but notice the "so called" Montauk Surveilance plane. We made special note of it, and it flew in a wide arc over the base, passing overhead every 8 or 10 minutes. There was also a small Piper type plane, which was also circling the base. After we had been hiking for about 2 hours, suddenly the surveilance plane buzzed the base, flying directly over us at about 100 - 200 feet overhead. We were shocked but at the same time glad we were able to get a good picture of the plane. The plane has positively been identified as a surveilance plane. It has several military applications, but the fact that for the last two years it has been circling the base puts it in the surveilance category. It is a U-21 Ute military version of the Beechcraft King Air A100 aircraft. Many thanks to the identification by Zion - Web Master of Air-Attack.com
